Well, after a tough bout with red tide we are finally heading back in the right direction. The back bays and inshore fishing grounds are coming back with a variety of targets available. Redfish, tarpon, snook, and jacks all started showing up where they should be, as the bait fish begin returning to the bay. Most of the bait found is still small, but it won’t take long for them to grow to a preferable size. There’s bigger baits South of us slowly making their way up the beaches, so it shouldn’t be to long before they’re here as well. Artificial baits have been working well, allowing us to keep moving around finding pockets of hungry fish. When you find fish in an area, they’re hungry and willing to play. The continuation of the imposed closure of both redfish and snook is the right thing to do for now, and is supported by almost everyone. The temperatures early morning are beginning to cool of a bit so the push of fish from up North should start up shortly. This is also an exciting time for anglers as large tarpon, bonitas, kingfish, cobia, and tripletail will all be in the mix soon. Tight lines, Capt. Greg Stamper 239-313-1764
